I had the incredible opportunity to meet Godfrey Reggio, the visionary director of the renowned Koyaanisqatsi trilogy, through a mutual friend at Synergia Ranch in New Mexico. His latest film, Once Within a Time, is nothing short of extraordinary.
During our conversation, I mentioned that I had just finished my own film, True Sound. To my surprise, he invited me to his studio to watch it. I was nervous, thinking it might be too much to ask someone of his stature to sit through a beginner’s film. But he not only watched the entire movie, but he also surprised me at the end by saying it was brilliant.
To top it off, he agreed to write a review for it—this very post is part of that gesture. I’m beyond grateful that someone as talented as Godfrey Reggio took the time to support me in this way.
True Sound was a deeply personal project, one that helped me heal after a breakup. I never expected it to resonate with anyone but myself, but now I realize filmmaking is my true passion.
